The Colts travelled to LFE with a depleted squad, due to players being injured and some being used for school 7's tournament.
Fullback Sam Hartley set the attacking tone right from the kickoff with a 75m run up the wing only stopped by a last ditch tackle.Lions kept the pressure up for the next 20 mins and scored two converted tries to lead 14-0. LFE then seemed to come alive and despite being second best in mauls and scrums, crossed the line three times but unable to convert, ended the half 15-14 ahead.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first, with Lions on top in the loose and scrummaging and the pack dominant, and only some excellent tackling by LFE stopped them adding to the score. With 15 minutes to go Lions got their second wind, and two scrums against the head set up two great tries, the first by No8 Ash Moore, who picked up from the back and broke the line to score in the clear under the posts. The second was a replay of the first, with Ash again picking up at the back and putting Aaron Martin over the line. Only one of these tries was converted, to finish the game with a final score of LFE 15 - Lions 26.
This was another spirited game from the Colts, who extend their unbeaten run this season, mirroring the First's excellent efforts in this promotion season.
