Lions new coaching team
Rugby Lions have announced the appointment of a new coaching team for their senior men’s teams.
Head coach is Rob Walton and he will be assisted by Rob Dignum and Ian Renard. They will work in tandem with Head of Playing Steve King.
Rob Walton has played high-level rugby as a second row with Rotherham and Birmingham & Solihull. He then spent some years playing for Hinckley before joing Coventry last season.
Rob Dignum has also been a long-term player as a centre at Hinckley. He is a PE teacher at Avon Valley School in Newbold near Rugby.
Ian Renard is an RFU Community Rugby Coach for Peterborough and the east Midlands. He was a Colt at Rugby Lions and later played as a utility back for the first team. Then, after playing for Broadstreet and Kettering, he played in the latter part of last season back at Rugby.
The philosophy of the coaching team is to guide the revival of Rugby Lions on the pitch based on the best principles and core values of rugby union and to build a multi-team club who all feel as much a part of the Rugby Lions as any other team member.
